cer9 mutants have large increase in C24 and C26 free fatty acids with major reductions in typical cuticular wax components. CER9 encodes the Arabidopsis homolog of yeast DOA10, which is the E3 ubiquitin ligase of the endoplasmic reticulum degradation (ERAD) pathway associated with ER-stress response pathway.
