The KAT5 cDNA complements the kat2 mutant (Germian et al., 2001). KAT5 produces two polypeptides, KAT5.1 and KAT5.2, apparently as a consequence of alternate RNA splicing - KAT5.1 appears to be cytosolic while KAT5.2 is peroxisomal (Carrie et al., 2007).
